Always busy, busy, busy!

Hey all!

Its been a VERY busy summer for us! Sadly, summer is coming to an end already and of course I am never ready for fall/winter.

Alexis is on the go,go, GO! never stops and always keeps this Momma on her toes!! She is a very smart little 16 month old. She knows how most things work by watching Mommy and Daddy use them and copies just about everything we do. She is always walking around the house carrying something, weather it be a bottle from the shower to a cat toy to her blanket. Whatever she carries around is so cute!

A couple weeks ago we had to get rid of Raven our black cat. It just was not working out at all! It got to the point where Dakota would not come out of our bedroom any more because Raven would chase her back in the room. The last straw was Dakota tried going to 1 of the litter boxes which is across the hall from our room in the laundry room and Raven chased her back in our room...well Dakota had to go pee so bad she went all over our bed and this was at 5am so as you can imagine we were very upset, not only by the situation but by being pee'd on! It made Kevins leg sting! Dakota has never once gone to the bath room anywhere but her litter box so I know it was Raven. Raven now is living with my brothers boss and his family. They have 2 small kids and it has been going very well! Dakota is also back to her normal self and only goes in our bedroom at night time when we are sleeping. We are just very glad that Alexis is too young to understand that Raven had to leave.

Kevin is loving being back at NBC 26! It's going very well for him!! He has been staying very busy there as well. He goes out and video tapes different stories some nights which is pretty cool. Actually tonight, Alexis and I were at the Green Bay downtown farmers market with my parents and I had no idea that Kevin was going to be there video taping so we ran into each other and he video taped Alexis and I looking at some bodies stand!! I know he got more of Alexis then me which is OK! It will be on tonights 10 o'clock news so I can't wait to see that!! Alexis was so happy to see her Daddy! She kept giving him kisses while he was holding his gear and when it was time for Kevin to leave she went chasing after him and pouting that Daddy had to leave :(

In other news, we are moving! Yes, again..I know but this time it is just to Green Bay and we are moving to a duplex instead of an apartment! So we are very excited!!! It has a very big back yard that is completely fenced in and fenced off from the other side of the duplex so we don't have to worry about Alexis running off. Its located in West Green Bay close to the airport and a lot closer to Kevin's work so now he will be able to come home on breaks to see Alexis before she goes to bed. We are moving October 3-9th...not an exact date just yet but around that time. When the time comes closer I will let you all know our new address. Probably in an actual email instead of posting it on here.

Labor day weekend Brian, Josie and the kids came to our house for the weekend. We had a lot of fun together but with the icky weather we just mostly stayed inside and played. Alexis, Emily and Joe all get along very well. Sunday night before all the kids went to bed Emily and Joe kept running back and forth between the kitchen and living room patio door, just singing and running and Alexis just stood there watching them and laughing her little head off! It was so cute and Emily was so proud of herself that she made "baby Alexis" laugh!

I cut my hair big time! I cut off about 6 inches and it now is a little above my shoulders. I did this a couple weeks ago and it felt so light and different but I am really liking the way it looks!

Kevin and I went to Milwaukee 2 weeks ago for the Blink-182 concert at the Marcus Ampitheater. It was the best concert I have ever gone too!! It was like 1 big light show and we were deaf for the next 2 days! That night was also the first night that I stayed away from Alexis!! My mom and Maddie stayed at our house and watched her. It was a nice get away for Kevin and I, but, I wont be going a full night again with out her for a long time!! I missed her wayyy to much even though she had a blast with Grandma and Maddie!!

Well, there is more to write about but I have to go get the TV ready so I make sure I don't miss Alexis on TV!!! I am hoping, if she makes it on TV that I can some how get the video on here...some how...not sure but I am working on it.

new pictures

Just sharing some new pictures of our summer so far.

I'll start with camping fathers day weekend. We had a great weekend camping...very relaxing! Although there was rain in the forecast it held out for us up until 20 minutes before we were ready to go and only had 1 tent to take down. Evan and Kevin got soaked then!

Alexis loves dogs..especially ones that stay by her and don't run away! This is Buddy..my brothers dog. He is very sweet and good with Alexis
While most of us played volley ball, my mom and Alexis played in the sand. Here they both are waving hi to me!
The rest of the night was one giant party! We had a bunch of friends over..made smores and drank! Very fun night and I am looking forward to camping again yet this summer.


The next weekend Kevin had off on Friday so we went to La Crosse and stayed at Brian and Josie's house. The kids got along very well and played nice. Its great knowing the kids will get to grow up together!

On Saturday for lunch we went to Happy Joes. The kids got to see Uncle Chad make our pizzas!

We had a very nice time staying at Brian and Josie's! Thanks again guys for having us that weekend!


A few days after that weekend during the week pretty much every one had off of work on that Tuesday so we all went to Bay Beach. I rode the new roller-coaster Zippin Pippin 3 times in about 30 mins! Very fun!
Just a few of us that went. Didn't take too many pictures during this visit to Bay Beach. Kevin, Maddie and I went on a few rides while my mom got Alexis to take a nap and held her. After Bay Beach we all went for pizza...and then Maddie slept over at our house.


July 4th my little family, my parents, Evan, Brandon and the girls all went to Point Beach state park. The water was lake Michigan and the water was beyond freezing!
Alexis felt the sand for the first time..it was pretty hot so it shocked her a bit. After this picture she loved it and there was no stopping her from playing and loving the water!! She's my little fish!

After supper Kevin, Alexis and I played with fireworks. Alexis liked them! We did a few sparklers and snakes.

We had a very nice 4th of July. Other then me getting sun burnt soooo bad on my back that I could barely wear a shirt with out screaming for days! It was awful!! Kevin got a bad sun burn on his head too and on one spot of his shoulder where we missed putting on sun screen.

A couple weeks ago Alexis started walking all by HERSELF! she now is on the go and no stopping her!! My mom and I went shopping Fri the 15th and she was just all over the store and loving being so independent!! We are sooo proud of her!! Such a big girl!!!!!



She loves to share things...with every one! Here she is sharing her balls from her ball popper..which is on its last leg because she loves playing with it so much!

Thursday the 14th Kayla and I took our girls to the NEW Zoo. This is Alexis and Brielle (Kaylas daughter) Brielle is 3 months older then Alexis.


Saturday July 16th Kevin and I went to Rock USA in Oshkosh. It is the first year that they put this show on. We had free tickets so we went to see Korn and Kiss. Korn was very good! I haven't seen them in about 10 years and its been awhile for Kevin too but they rocked! Kiss was good too...I'm not the biggest Kiss fan..its not that I don't like them but they just aren't my generation. For how old they are they were very good! My mom watched Alexis that night. Alexis thought because grandma was there that it was more play time then bed time how ever!! Little stinker!

As you can see my little girl is getting big! Walking, goofy, very smart too! She is our world that is for sure!!

This has taken me about 2 hours to write and Kevin now is home from his first day back at NBC 26. He is saying it went very well! He even directed half of the 6 o'clock show and all of the 10 o'clock show!! He made some graphics too. He just jumped right back in!

The other big news is.....

KEVIN GOT A NEW JOB!!!!

A few weeks ago NBC 26 (the tv station Kevin used to work at here in Green Bay) called Kevin out of the blue and told them they were hiring full-time directors. Now I have to tell you that Kevin did not apply for this job or anything...they called him!! They however did know Kevin was back in Green Bay and when Kevin was laid off talked to NBC about any jobs but Kevin was offered Ameriprise first. I know most of you that have talked to Kevin about NBC 26 and why he left 3 years ago and what was happening in the company. Well things there have been changing..for the better as we understand. They took away the sports department and just had all the news on sports come from Milwaukee..well they are slowly working their way back to getting sports. And just other news things that are turning around there. So anyways...Kevin had an interview a couple weeks ago...there was either a position that was full time working weekends or a monday-friday shift. The guy that interviewed Kevin had told him that he was over qualified for the weekend job and perfect for the mon-fri job. So a week later..Kevin got a call and was offered the mon-fri job!! He accepted and he starts TOMORROW!!

Kevin has realized with having the VIP lube job and working at Ameriprise that he missed working in news. Working at the TV station in Milwaukee was very boring for him but he loved working at the one in La Crosse and here at Green Bay. He is still going to school (which starts Aug. 18th) and hoping that once he is done his business management degree will help him go higher at NBC 26.

It just makes me so happy and proud that NBC called him out of the blue..they wanted him very badly for this job and worked with him so he would accept it!! They love his work and just loved having him as an employee back then. Im just so excited and happy for Kevin! Some of his friends still work there too and they are all very excited to be working with Kevin again! So that makes me even more happy that he is back with his buddies!

His new hours are monday thru friday 1:45pm-10:45pm in case any one ever needs to get a hold of him try before 1:30pm.

Kevin quit Ameriprise last Monday.So we had a nice week to spend together! We went swimming, got ice cream, when it was 100 degrees outside we sat in the A/C and played, Kevin and I went on a date night for our anniversary (we went to get drinks and see The Hangover Part 2) we went to the drive inn movie theater last night and saw Mr Poppers Penguins and Transformers 3. It was very nice week and now he is very excited to start his new job at NBC 26!

I know Kevin doesn't read this very much or at all really but Kevin I am so proud and excited and happy for you! We love you very much! This wife gets her bragging rights back that her husband is a director at a TV station! :)

New addition to the Bartelt family

We have expanded our family! No...not another baby! Another kitty! We adopted a 8 month old black kitten we named Raven. We got her this past Sunday July 17 from the Door County Humane Society. Shes going to be a long haired cat we are guessing.

So far its going as well as we expected and it can go with introducing Dakota to a new cat. Dakota has been alone since we got her when she was 3 months old (shes now 5) Raven tends to do the hissing at Dakota but that's because Dakota pretty much corners her and Raven has no way of getting around her. Dakota for the first couple days hid in our bedroom and barely came out. We think that was due to her vaccines we had to get updated and they were kicking in. Dakotas been coming out of our room a lot more now. But they still are getting used to each other.

Now...Alexis and Raven are best buddies! Raven lets Alexis pet her, stick toys in her face, Alexis shares her kid toys with Raven also. Every day during nap time Alexis sleeps on the couch and Raven is right next to her sleeping until Alexis wakes up. As I type this now they are sleeping next to each other. Its nice having an animal that will grow up with Alexis and tolerates her alittle more then Dakota does. Dakotas never mean towards Alexis just Dakota runs away when Alexis comes towards her.

Raven has been pretty good around here for being a kitten. She plays with hair ties mostly and then sleeps for 3 hours. So in all its going as well as it can with the two cats!

This picture has nothing to do with Raven but its just a cute picture of Alexis and me. We wore some what matching summer dresses last Sunday. This picture shows how she is becoming a goof when Daddy tells her to say cheese!

Update

Hi all!

Its been a busy few weeks here! I now have some free time to quick write a new post.

In the time since my last post we had Kevins 26th birthday on Thurs. May 26th. He worked but during the day Alexis and I made a cake for him....his favorite..strawberry! That night the whole gang went to Buffalo Wild Wings for dinner. I do believe Kevins favorite gift was Alexis taking her FIRST STEPS on his birthday! We were getting her ready and she took her first 2 steps all by herself! (as of now..she is taking about 5 or 6 steps by herself and standing alone very well. She also will some times now walk with one of us only hold one of her hands)

That weekend was the weekend Chad graduated from high school. Feels like yesterday he just started! I did take a lot of pictures but here are just some of the high lights.

Memorial weekend was a nice weekend. We stayed an extra night and that was nice to just sit and catch up with the family. Its now great seeing Alexis, Emily and Joe all play together now that Alexis is older. All 3 of them are growing so fast and each of them have such amazing personalities you can't help but just love and soak up every minute with them!
We will be going back to La Crosse June 24-26th and I promise a picture of the kids together.


That next week my mom had vacation all week. I just did a lot of unpacking their new house since Kevin and I were gone for the big move. That Wednesday my mom did come with Alexis and I to our Little Gym class and she took some pictures....

Now this past Wednesday June 8th was our last class and it was show week. Kevin and my dad came along to see all of Alexis favorite things she learned there.

I do believe I mentioned in a post awhile back that Kevin had made Alexis a toy box/book shelf and I painted it..well here is the finished project all set in her room. Turned out just how we imagined!


Kevin had off this past tuesday (the 7th) we went to Bay Beach for the first time! It was hot! but a nice breeze off of the bay. Us 3 went on the train then I went on the marry go round and helicopters with Alexis.

The next day (wed 8th) Alexis and I played in her new baby pool. We set it up on our deck with a little water and just played for awhile. Our deck is all shade in the afternoon and that is really nice!

I do believe Alexis saw a bird and was "talking" to it in this picture.

In other news...Kevin has now started his new shift last Monday (the 6th) he now works 1-9:30pm. He doesn't mind it but it's taking me a little bit to get used to him working at night again since he hasn't since we lived in Milwaukee. At least we spend time together in the morning with Alexis and she's usually happier in the morning then after supper when shes getting tired. I now have started doing the paper route I used to do again. I only do it about 4 days a week though this time. Just a little money to save up.

Yesterday we got a "new" truck! It's going to be Kevins. It's a 1993 Chevy S-10. Dark green with a gold trim..Packer colors! It was my moms friends truck..only she owned it but it has been sitting outside not used to quiet some time so it does need a little work but nothing major. For it being on the older side it looks very nice!! No rust, dents, or anything. Kevin really likes it and is very excited to fix up his new truck! I am very excited that the Trailblazer is now mine! :) We have really missed having 2 cars and will never do that again! haha.

This weekend we are going camping!! Very excited for this camping trip..even though its now Alexis first camping trip this year she is older and will have much more fun! Go swimming, play at the park, lots of walks! Very excited! :)
